Flood in Peru, 11 dead

11 dead, five of whom 10 children missing balance of river mud that flooded the poorest region El Porvenir in Peru.

Dozens of homes were engulfed by it. According to the provincial governor, Ronald Garcia, entire families are missing in the village where about 80 such. Expectations are that at least some of them have managed to escape `t be left terrific flow of both water and landslides, due to intense rainfall in the region.

Most of the inhabitants of El Porvenirit are coffee growers. Locals have joined efforts civilian defense employees and military to find possible survivors under the ruins, but the tidal waters has hampered the work. Peru's government has sent humanitarian aid to the area, including food, tents and blankets.
