Italy mafia arrests among officials

Italian police carried out a series of arrests and raids in Reggio Calabria, after Rome sacked all official city council based on allegations of mafia ties.

The arrests targeted a branch of the "union" of crime "Ngragheta" s, which by current data, it appears that he had penetrated areas in local government.

Assets worth more than 30 million euros was raided Wednesday during different raids of houses and properties suspects.

Currently, not yet discovered the names of persons arrested or under investigation, not dekonspiruar police operations, but learned that some local councilors are between prangosurve.

Despite the long history of power connection to the mafia in Italy, this was the first time in the country's history that all of a city municipal council dismissed for links to organized crime.

It appears that the corruption of the councilors allowed organized crime to have access to national and regional funds for the province of Calabria.
